Theme: "Multidimensional peace realized by female leaders"
The International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) Global 10 Bureau (Global Bureau Director Kim Hwa-jung) held the 7th 'Global Women Leaders Peace Forum' online on the 19th.
The forum, held under the theme of "Multidimensional Peace Realized by Women Leaders," was attended by approximately 300 women leaders and members from six branches in Korea and eight other countries, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the United States, Japan, Pakistan, and India.
In her welcoming address, Global Director Kim Hwa-jeong said, "Women's participation and leadership are being recognized as key elements for sustainable peace. We have organized this forum as a forum for global solidarity to explore the possibility of multidimensional peace strategies through female leaders and to translate women's voices into real change."
Yvonne Adriana Gaitan-Bertruy (Professor of International Law and Human Rights Law at the Autonomous University of Tabasco Juarez, Mexico) offered her congratulatory remarks, saying, "If the 'Declaration for Peace to End Global War (DPCW)' supported by IWPG is submitted to the United Nations and enacted into international law, civil society and human rights organizations will be able to monitor the legislative activities of each country and propose solutions for the common good. I hope this symposium will become a new opportunity for people of different backgrounds to come together and create greater peace."
Sumeyye Ceyirlan (Vice President of the Green Crescent Association of Turkey and Founder of the Children's Education Foundation) emphasized that "digital peace can be the core foundation for building a healthy and fair society. Sincere prevention is not simply about avoiding danger, but about enabling well-being and social peace."
Examples of peace event hosting were also shared. Saurel Kozamuratova, Peace Chairperson and Peace Lecturer of the IWPG in Astana, Kazakhstan, hosted the "Peace Week" event in April. The event included the 7th International Peace and Love Painting Competition, a peace-themed essay contest, and the "April 26 International Women's Peace Day," among other events. Following the event, a ceremony was held to present letters of appointment to four peace chairpersons from Mexico's four regional peace committees.
"IWPG is a global women's NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Secretariat's Department for Global Communications (DGC). We have 115 chapters in 122 countries and are in solidarity with over 800 partner organizations in 68 countries."
